Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 starts export, awaits launch in Vietnam this year

The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has officially been unveiled in August 2023. After six months, this mid-range SUV model began to be exported from Japan to international markets. Images of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado being loaded onto trucks in Japan recently have proven this.

Similar to the US market, this SUV model in Japan also had the “Prado” name removed. In Japan, the vehicle is called the Toyota Land Cruiser 250. Meanwhile, in some other markets such as Australia or South Africa, the vehicle continues to be named the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

In the Japanese market, the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 will officially go on sale from mid-April this year. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, it is expected that this model will start being distributed by authorized dealerships around July 2024.

Currently, dealerships in Vietnam have also started accepting deposits for the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. According to the source from the dealership, the vehicle for the Vietnam market will have some changes in equipment compared to the previous version, with the most notable being the engine.

Specifically, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 in Vietnam is expected to use a new 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine. Coupled with a new 8-speed automatic transmission, this engine delivers a maximum power of 278 horsepower and a peak torque of 430 Nm. Meanwhile, the previous version currently sold in Vietnam uses a 2.7L gasoline engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Sales consultants at the dealership said that the vehicle in Vietnam will have LED headlights with adaptive lighting, rear seat heaters, a premium 14-speaker audio system, USB and HDMI ports, as well as a head-up display.

The next upgrade for the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 in Vietnam is the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 advanced active safety package. This package includes features such as an adaptive cruise control system at all speeds, lane centering assist, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic headlights, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist with steering assist. In addition, the vehicle also features blind-spot warning, cross-traffic alert when reversing, and parking assist with automatic braking.

In addition to the new engine and equipment, this model has also undergone a transformation in terms of design, with a more square and youthful appearance, similar to the Lexus GX 2024. This is not surprising as these two models share the same platform.

Specifically, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 is equipped with a vertical front end with rectangular grille and headlights, new LED daytime running lights, and small fog lights. In addition, it features a rugged front/rear bumper, vertical taillights, and an upward-opening tailgate.
